LatinDancer Blog is about the magic and enjoyment of social dancing. Especially dances having a “Latin”-ic background like salsa and bachata, and kizomba as an exception. I know it is a large umbrella, these dances have so rich variety of traditions and newly introduced styles, but the social dancing in the field as practice for everyday dancers have a lot of similarities. Local regular classes, parties, workshops with famous artists, events and festivals are organised similarly, establishing a newly introduced cultural tradition of social dancing. All of them insistently balance the commercial service of enjoyment and keeping the objectives of developing professional dancing skills. The clubs mostly accept almost everyone having motivation and perseverance. Still, they also work on an image of their dance subject, insisting on one, and strongly binding to some of the many possible styles and origin tales. So as a cultural phenomenon and social practice, there are similarities enough to play a role of focus for this blog.
